Non-Linear Business Growth: Scientific Explanation & Practical Implementation

Introduction

In our consultancy, we often experience that a shift in the state of being of a company, team, or individual changes their outer, manifested reality. But how can this be? How can it be explained that a shift in one’s inner reality changes one’s external world? In today’s post, we discuss the answer to this question by intellectually exploring this phenomenon through a scientific lens.

The Phenomenon Explained: Lorenz’s Butterfly

To explain this phenomenon, we must first distinguish different paradigms through which the world can be viewed. According to scientist David Hawkins, one is a short-sighted worldview, part of an outdated (Newtonian) paradigm of reality, in which all events supposedly happen in a logical, linear sequence. In this worldview, things are deterministic and predictable based on logic, intellect, and reasoning.

However, in new paradigms of reality, it is understood that reality is not created from linear and sequential causality but as an expression of what it is (inner state of being), where all outer phenomena (“out there”) have an identifiable attractor pattern (“in here”).

Through the work of scientists and physicists, such as David Bohm (The Holographic Universe) and David Hawkins (Map of Consciousness), among others, it is scientifically shown that the visible world is created from the invisible world via these attractor patterns, or energy fields, and through the projection of consciousness. This means there is coherence between the configurations of an individual’s or company’s internal world and their manifested, or projected, outer reality.

This inner coherence was first demonstrated in nature, decades ago by Edward Lorenz, the MIT mathematician and meteorologist who studied computer graphics derived from weather patterns over long courses of time. What appeared on the surface to be chaotic, disconnected phenomena had a coherent pattern, noted in the attractor pattern he identified, now known as Lorenz’s Butterfly.

Lorenz demonstrated the interrelatedness of seemingly unrelated phenomena, such that small changes can have huge effects. As he put it, the flap of a butterfly’s wings might ultimately become a tornado. This was his famous “butterfly effect”. His findings revolutionized the understanding of phenomena that emerge as a consequence of interacting attractor patterns, not linear causality.

Business Growth: Practical Implementation of The Butterfly Effect

At THE FUTURISTS, we help bring the findings of Lorenz’s Butterfly Effect into use on a company level to catalyze business growth by distinguishing between business movement on a horizontal and vertical layer.

Most businesses today are familiar with focusing on the horizontal layer of business growth, which includes the material, practical, intellectual, and strategic focus in the physical world. This focus is often based on determinism, logic, reasoning, and predictability.

The vertical layer of business growth focuses on the unseen dimension of company reality, including current attractor patterns/energy fields, mentation, and the alignment with higher universal principles like love, integrity, authenticity, and pure devotion.

Working within a company’s inner reality on the vertical layer, in addition to horizontal business efforts, can result in inexplicable growth leaps that defy logic, where, as Lorenz put it, small changes (perhaps even seemingly unrelated) can have huge effects. Through vertical business movement, a company can therefore reach far more (effortless and efficient) success than often more effortful horizontal business movement could ever achieve alone. In future posts, we will continue discussing vertical business movement, including its different aspects and practical implementation.
